Through My Thick Glasses, 2004

Writer: Yoo Lee Yoo Lee

I love everything Pjotr Sapegin creates. His off beat sense of humor coupled with his ability to tell difficult stories in such fantastical ways, amaze me tremendously. We often hear as animators, its the story that count. Not the fancy skills but what story are you telling? And with Sapegin, it's always touching, funny, ironic and memorable. His animations are both endearing and troublesome that stays in your head for a while upon watching. I also am a fan of how he animates his puppets flat on Muti-panels and I cannot wait to experiment this.

'Through My Thick Glasses' is a wonderful tale about World War II and how the grandfather lovingly retelling his grandchild who doesn't want to wear the hat. Amazing example of claymation stop motion!
