The Emperor's Nightingale, 1949

This masterpiece full feature film from Jirí Trnka combines live action with stop motion to tell the adaptation fairy tale of 'The Nightingale' by Hans Christian Andersen. It's truly a fine example piece showcasing Trnka's talent as a storyteller, animator, and master puppet maker and it makes me tear up every time I watch this film.
