Body Memory, 2011

Another stop motion animation recommended to me by my professor Christine Panuska is Body Memory by Estonian Ülo Pikkov.

I can honestly say this is one of the most disturbing and terrifying short films I had watched but at the same time, there is beauty to be found in its story and cinematography. Pikkov made this film to show that our bodies not only remember our current and recent past but also the sorrow and pains of our ancestors. In my mind tug of war with the string represents the struggles with our bodily memories. I was pained when the mother lost the egg and gasped when the egg broke.
